Administrative BoardThe Administrative Board is made up of a representative of each Member States and 6 representatives of the European Commission. The chairperson elected from among the Commission representatives or the deputy chairperson shall convene and chair the meetings of the Board and determine its agenda. The Administrative Board was constituted at its first meeting held on 1 February 2006. At its second meeting held on 14 June 2006 in Vigo, Spain, the Administrative Board appointed the Executive Director of the Agency. The Executive Director and the representative appointed by the Advisory Board take part in the deliberations without the right to vote. Chairman: Mr. Serge Beslier Chairperson of the Administrative BoardWelcome to the website of CFCA, the Community Fisheries Control Agency, which main purpose is to contribute for a better control and inspection of the Common Fisheries Policy and, in this way, for the conservation and sustainable use of fisheries resources. Much more than a compliance environment, we need to build up and reinforce a compliance culture, since past data revealed, each time more clearly, that the idea of sustainability in fisheries, desirable beyond any doubt, is incompatible with practices that experience showed to be completely unsustainable in the long term but also in the short term. In this sense, the main purpose of the Agency is to bring together Member States and ensure better and more effective control and inspection activities at Community level through activities such as operational coordination, common training, enforcement harmonisation and share of knowledge. The Agency will also liaise with the stakeholders through the Regional Advisory Councils in order to promote a culture of compliance.
